David Williams serves as General Counsel to Argent Financial Group, Inc. and as Executive Vice President and Manager of the fiduciary services team in the Atlanta, Georgia office of Argent Trust Company.

Prior to joining Argent, David was Senior Vice President and Manager, Fiduciary Services for Reliance Trust Company. He has over 40 years of experience in law practice with a special emphasis on employee benefits and executive compensation matters and a wide variety of business transactions.

David founded the Atlanta office of the Schiff Hardin LLP law firm and managed the firm’s employee benefits and executive compensation practice from 2003 to 2012. Before then, he was a partner at Hunton & Williams (1991-2003) where he was the Atlanta managing partner and with Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy (1982-1991).

He has a J.D., cum laude, from The Ohio State University College of Law, an M.A. in political science from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Denison University.

In high demand for his professional insight and expertise, he speaks and writes about ESOPs and other employee benefit plan and executive compensation issues on the local and national level. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and American Bar Association, The ESOP Association and NCEO, along with many other professional groups.
